Boxing is a theme I often revisit. I find its stark brutality compelling– an enclosed ring where adversaries try to do harm to one another as jeering mobs cry out for blood ( it has a certain timeless appeal to it).

This ordeal of suffering can at times attain a transcendent level, inspiring me in this piece to use religious iconography– radiant, halo-like rays of light created with 6" nails.
